SUMMARY:Cursillo Weekend #147 - "Walk on Water"
DESCRIPTION:Mason Ayres \nDear Fellow Cursillistas\, \nI’m thrilled that God has called me to be the Rector of Cursillo #147. My family and I worship at Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota. Cursillo has played an important role in shaping my faith and strengthening my relationship with Jesus Christ. I made my Cursillo in 2011 on Cursillo #122 in the Diocese of Southwest Florida. What an incredible weekend! Since then\, I have been blessed to serve God on several Cursillo Teams. For me\, every Cursillo weekend is a powerful one. I’m always amazed at God’s transforming love that He pours out onto the Pilgrims each weekend.  Many\, myself included\, leave Cursillo on Sunday afternoon changed forever. \nPlease prayerfully consider joining me on Cursillo #147 (February 16 -19 2023). The weekend theme is “Walk On Water” based on Matthew 14: 22-33. I have always loved the image of Peter jumping out of the boat and walking on the water towards Jesus. Peter is completely focused on Jesus after he hears Jesus say “Yes\, come”.  Throughout our lives we face a similar choice\, let doubt and fear keep us rooted in “what might have been” or “take courage!” and live wholeheartedly a life centered on our Lord Jesus Christ. To me\, the Cursillo ministry is all about God equipping each of us to answer His call to “come”. All of us can courageously get out of our own boat and begin our personal walk on the water towards Jesus. All we have to do is keep our eyes fixed on Him and walk on faith not sight. Go ahead and take that first step and let God do the rest. \nI’m looking forward to see how God’s hand will shape the Cursillo #147 Pilgrims and Team. DESCRIPTION:Marta Meloy \nDe Colores\, Brothers and Sisters in Christ! \nIt is with a great deal of joy and anticipation I am writing to introduce myself in the usual Cursillo way as our community of Christ continues to grow every glorious weekend! This last weekend was truly a wonderful blessing for everyone\, pilgrims and team alike\, thank you Lord! \nMy name is Marta Meloy\, I attend St. Anne of Grace in Seminole and made my Cursillo on weekend #49 at Dayspring in 1995\, just a few years ago! Needless to say it was a life altering experience of unconditional love\, with the perfect timing only God can give. Over the years I have returned to serve on weekends when called and continue to strive in fulfilling my Rule of Life\, with God’s constant help! I am so grateful for these tools to guide\, grow\, support and account for my spiritual journey\, for on my own it is definitely a struggle to abide in the presence of Jesus. What a difference Cursillo makes! \nAbout a year ago the Secretariat asked me to prayerfully consider leading a weekend. After a time of discernment\, I said yes\, and the journey to Cursillo #144 began. I confess this is a very humbling experience learning patience and to wait upon the Lord’s revelation\, yet at the same time\, I am so incredibly excited over what the Lord has planned! I also feel relieved and deeply thankful He is in charge of it all\, otherwise it would be overwhelming! He will make the weekend perfect in accordance to His will\, far beyond what I can even imagine! \nThe theme is taken from Matthew 10:8 when Jesus sends out the disciples saying\, “Freely you have received\, freely give.” As I consider what I have received over my life from Christ\, I am in awe of the abundance of blessings\, faith\, love\, forgiveness\, restoration\, mercy and grace… now it is my time to freely give. \nCursillo #144 will be held February 20-23\, 2020 and I know the Lord will bless the work of our hands as He calls us to serve on team\, in sponsorship\, prayer\, giving palanca\, or attending the Serenade and Clausura. Every offering and sacrifice magnifies the glory\, honor and love of Christ Jesus. \nThank you for all of the prayer time and thoughtfulness given as you discern participation in the weekend. My name is Nancy Kinney and I was called by our Lord to serve as the Rectora for Cursillo #140 in October. \nWhat an awesome blessing this is and an overwhelming responsibility. No fear though because there is a huge Cursillo community that will help and support me\, the team and the new Pilgrims to come! The most important support is prayer. Prayers for guidance\, wisdom\, protection from evil outside influences and anything else that will try to derail this weekend before and during its duration. Every weekend is in the Lord’s hands and He will reveal that plan to me and the team as the plans are progressing. \nThe Leadership is in place and now we will be looking for many Cursillistas to apply to work on the team with us. Please pray about this and check with your families and calendars for the available time and commitment it takes. \nWe will have our first team meeting Saturday Sept. 15th and the second team meeting Saturday October 6th. \nNow would be a good time to block off those days in your calendars because we know how busy our lives are and how quickly new events get added to already full schedules. We can’t all work on a team but we can always pray. When the Prayer Vigil gets published in the future by the Servant Chair please choose a time slot or two for fervent prayers of protection! Not only is working on a team a time to serve but maybe you will experience something you missed on your weekend. \nNow is also a good time to pray and talk to your parish priest about someone who you think might be interested and willing to attend a Cursillo weekend. Remember to do this before you invite your friend to fill out an application! Timing is everything so a no today doesn’t necessarily mean no forever. Don’t forget that popular and so true statement to “Make a friend\, be a friend and bring a friend to Christ!” Sponsoring is an awesome experience but it is also a  commitment. Look into all that is required before you make that decision. \nOf course\, palanca is always needed; green $ palanca\, soda\, water\, candy\, salty snacks\, pillow palanca and written notes to the Pilgrims. So many ways to help and contribute to the weekend. There will be notices by the Set-Up Co-chairs later on as the weekend approaches. \nAgain please put Cursillo #140 on your daily prayer list and your church’s prayer list too!
