Dear Fellow Cursillistas,
I’m thrilled that God has called me to be the Rector of Cursillo #147. My family and I worship at Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota. Cursillo has played an important role in shaping my faith and strengthening my relationship with Jesus Christ. I made my Cursillo in 2011 on Cursillo #122 in the Diocese of Southwest Florida. What an incredible weekend! Since then, I have been blessed to serve God on several Cursillo Teams. For me, every Cursillo weekend is a powerful one. I’m always amazed at God’s transforming love that He pours out onto the Pilgrims each weekend. Many, myself included, leave Cursillo on Sunday afternoon changed forever.
Please prayerfully consider joining me on Cursillo #147 (February 16 -19 2023). The weekend theme is “Walk On Water” based on Matthew 14: 22-33. I have always loved the image of Peter jumping out of the boat and walking on the water towards Jesus. Peter is completely focused on Jesus after he hears Jesus say “Yes, come”. Throughout our lives we face a similar choice, let doubt and fear keep us rooted in “what might have been” or “take courage!” and live wholeheartedly a life centered on our Lord Jesus Christ. To me, the Cursillo ministry is all about God equipping each of us to answer His call to “come”. All of us can courageously get out of our own boat and begin our personal walk on the water towards Jesus. All we have to do is keep our eyes fixed on Him and walk on faith not sight. Go ahead and take that first step and let God do the rest.
I’m looking forward to see how God’s hand will shape the Cursillo #147 Pilgrims and Team. If you feel called to be part of the February weekend, please complete the Team application and sent to me at the address below. Also let’s make sure to pray for the Pilgrims of Cursillo #147 to hear God’s voice calling them to “Come!”

Cursillo #147 is blessed to have such a wonderful Team that God has called to serve on the upcoming weekend. There remains room for others to join us. We could use additional Team Members. Please reach out to me directly at gmayres11@gmail.com or (239) 248-4570 if you are interested in serving.
Greetings, Fellow Cursillistas –
Cursillo #147 is quickly approaching us. Please see open spots below. Sign up on the Prayer Vigil by contacting Gussie Haeffner by emailing Gussie at ghaeffner@comcast.net or calling 941-650-9483
As you can image since all supplies have been in storage for over 2 years we are in great need for water, sodas and candy for the weekend. We need 50 cases of water and 50 cases of sodas. Also we need an abundance of candy. Please consider donating small size bottles of water; regular, diet, caffeine free sodas and individually wrapped candies.
Green palanca is always welcomed. It is a great way to donate to the weekend refreshment cause and other needed supplies. If the Spirit moves you to send green palanca either by cash or check to the weekend, please place in an envelope labeled with your name, your church’s name and city on the outside. Any amount will be graciously accepted. Please mail to:
Gussie Haeffner Cursillo Treasurer 4825 Waterbridge Down, Sarasota, FL 34235 or bring with you on Thursday night.
