Fellow Cursillistas.

My name is Jo Simpson and my Cursillo was #129, in 2015 at DaySpring with the family of St. Matthew.

Worshipping at All Saints Episcopal Church in Tarpon Springs is a gift and has led me to co-chair Cursillo, belong to Daughters of the King, play handbells, etc. Then, of course, there is weeding at home in Dunedin, walking and playing golf. Although a hole in one came my way this year, don’t let it mislead you on my golfing prowess. Time spent with my 2 adult sons, lovely daughters-in-law and wonderful grandchildren is a blessing. Unfortunately, my husband of 30 years is not here to share this joy as he passed away in 2010.

Cursillo was a long time coming for me. It started with a seed in 2006 and a commitment on a Cursillo Sunday in 2015. Since my Cursillo, I have served teams, participated in Cursillo events, helped out in various capacities in church. In short, I’ve tried to live my 4th Day. Cursillo was life changing and I shudder to think where my life would be now without it.

Being called to be Rectora for #155 was a surprise, an honor and baffling. Accepting God’s invitation to work with a team to “empower others to go into the world equipped to witness to the wonder of being God’s Church” (the stated goal of the Cursillo weekend) is both daunting and exciting. Knowing that God “does not always call the equipped but does equip the called” gives me courage and energy

Our theme, “Bind Us Together”, emerged while reflecting on where we find ourselves today: surrounded by change (personally, in the diocese, and in the world). Change will be best managed through unity. Our Cursillo community gives us this sense of unity through our fellowship with and in Christ. In short, we are bound together as workers for Christ.

Having shared all this, I ask for your prayers for Cursillo #155 on February 11th – 14th, and I invite Cursillistas from Cursillo #154 to Cursillo #1 to prayerfully consider being some part of this “Bind Us Together” team. Thank you and God Bless You.

“Christ is Counting on You”

The first Cursillo team meeting was held at Church of the Nativity and started with a beautiful rainbow. The team is complete and filled with faithful and spirit-filled leaders who are anxious to use their time and talents for the glory of God.

Although the team for 154 “Seek ye First” is complete and on our way to a smooth and spirit- filled weekend, we still need you. Consider helping by using your time and talents to grow this community with prayers, sponsoring a candidate or donating much needed green palanca. (See Set-Up Info by Clicking Here)

Hello my Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am so excited to announce that we are less than 3 months out for Cursillo #154-“Seek ye first”. It is fast approaching and the Holy Spirit has captured my heart and has filled me with so much joy.  His guiding light will lead us to the weekend He has planned.

The team is filling up; however more faithful Christians leaders are needed to build God’s kingdom here on earth one community at a time. Still looking for 8 more Cursillistas to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Our meetings are set for . . .

August 1, 2026, at Church of the Nativity, Sarasota and

August 29, 2026, at All Souls in North Fort Myers. 

They will be held from 10:00 – 3:00 pm.

Working on team will catapult you back to that glorious weekend of spiritual renewal you had when you attended Cursillo. A time to set aside the world’s concerns and concentrate on building this loving, spiritual, and supportive community where we can feel and hear the voice of God.

Christ has no body now but yours, no hands, no feet, on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks. I am grateful to all that have answered the call to serve already.

YOUR SECRETARIAT

The Cursillo Secretariat is the group of leaders – clergy and lay people – who orient, animate, and serve the Cursillo Movement. Leaders are presented by the council and appointed by the bishop, The Secretariat:

• Studies environments to be Christianized
• Focuses the efforts of Cursillo leaders to bring Christ into those environments
• Raises up leaders for the three-day weekends.
• Promotes unity, love, and trust among cursillistas
• Promotes and models a vital expression of the Cursillo method – especially Group reunions.
• Seeks, through prayer and study, the guidance and blessing of the Holy Spirit for the Movement as a whole.

The Secretariat also maintains ties with the National Episcopal Cursillo. It is responsible for announcing scheduled Weekends to the wider Cursillo Community and inviting them to offer prayer (palanca) for the Weekend. READ MORE

Coloring placemats- We need additional placemats colored.  This coming weekend we will be providing colored placemats for the pilgrim tables when we eat in Curry Hall.  This is a great way to get your Parish to be a part of the weekend. All ages are encouraged to color.  If you are interested, please contact our Servant Chair, Janet Spooner at spoonwomanpc@hotmail.com or 941-661-9464.  She will coordinate getting the placemats to you.
