Cursillo #140 Update

From Karen Maurer, Set-Up Co Chair

The weekend fast approaches, and we are blessed with a full team and 35 Pilgrims! Praise God for all the enthusiasm and many hands that make this possible! However, we do continue to need your prayers, Palanca and assistance.

Palanca

Palanca needs include bottled water, both small and large bottles, a variety of soda (regular and diet), candy (with and without sugar), and “Green Palanca” additional money to cover a variety of expenses that may arise. This all can be delivered by Sponsors when luggage is dropped off at the cabins, and we thank you and praise God for your continued love, offerings and sacrifices.

Sponsors

A reminder to Sponsors: Please be sure to feed and then deliver your Pilgrims (after enjoying a meal together) to Day Spring between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday October 25th. Look for the set-up people in yellow vests who will direct you to the Program Center. There, the Pilgrims will be welcomed and escorted to registration. Please proceed to the cabins behind the program center to drop off Palanca and luggage. Set-Up in yellow vests will be there to unload. Then stop by St. Thomas Chapel for prayer time with Jan Spangler (Friend of Team) before you leave.

Serenade

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Saturday Night Serenade on October 27th. This is a special gift! Arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. and park in the soccer field past the Bishop’s office on your left as you drive into Day Spring. Set Up in yellow vests will direct parking. Golf carts will be available for transportation to the Program Center. The Serenade is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. and finish at 7:30 p.m.

Bringing Pilgrims Home

On Sunday October 28th please drive up to Luke Cabin to pick up your Pilgrim’s luggage upon arriving. Then return and park in the soccer field and walk up to the Program Center. Golf carts will be available for transportation. Please be seated for the Clausura no later than 3:30 p.m. for fellowship, singing and the arrival of our new Cursillistas at 4:00 p.m.

Fourth Day

The Fourth Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th at 8:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Sarasota. Make a date with your new Cursillista to attend! It’s a day of deeper understanding, and a mini spiritual retreat for all. Look for information on the website, and your new Cursillista will have the flyer in hand.

Loving and gracious Father,
Thank you Lord for our brothers and sisters signed up for the Prayer Vigil, and thank you in advance for those servants yet to volunteer. Thank you for guiding our efforts preparing for the weekend including Nancy and leadership, team, sponsors, pilgrims, Palanca and prayer offerings . May we all work together according to Your Divine will, and be blessed in our faithfulness and obedience, so Your honor, glory and praise be magnified this weekend. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

From the Cursillo #140 Servant Chair

October 25th – 28th

Decolores brothers and sisters

It is with great joy we can once again answer God’s call to serve in many ways on the next Cursillo weekend in October!

My name is Marta Meloy, I attend St. Anne of Grace and my Cursillo weekend was #49, a very long time ago-but what an incredible change in my life!

I remember being overwhelmingly amazed at the endless love poured out for me through the Prayer Chain, Servants to meet every need possible, Family Workers, Cha-chas, Rollos, the Serenade and all of the various Palanca offered to nurture my Spirit with the love of Christ.

I am humbled and blessed to serve on the prayer team and work as the Servant Chair for this weekend. Brothers and sisters, I invite you to pray with me over Cursillo weekend #140, for the Word of God in Ephesians 6:18 says, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all of the Lord’s people.”

Thank you in advance for the prayer and support given through the love of Jesus Christ.

My contact information for signing up for the Prayer Vigil or offering green palanca, water or sodas is as follows:

Prayer Vigil emails will be forthcoming for the ease of signing up as well. Thank you once again.

Peace and blessings to you my dear family in Christ!
Prayerfully with love,
Marta

Cursillo #140 Update

DeColores! My name is Nancy Kinney, and I have been called to be the Rectora for Cursillo #140 the weekend of Thursday October 25th- Sunday October 28th.

So many people are already working tirelessly to have everything ready for the weekend in anticipation of the Pilgrim’s arrival! There are still openings on the team, so if you feel called to send me an application please send it to me by email or snail-mail as soon as possible. The registrar has received Pilgrim applications, and we need a team member for every Pilgrim!

We also need your prayers to cover the weekend now and during the Cursillo weekend. Please give at least an hour of your time, if you are unable to work on the team, to pray for us when the Servant chair publishes the Prayer Vigil. The Prayer Vigil starts Thursday evening and continues round the clock until the weekend is over after the Closura!

Palanca will also be asked for such as water, sodas and candy, with and without sugar, plus “green $ palanca” to cover other expenses. The Servant and Set-Up chairs will be asking for these things as well. This is an awesome responsibility and can only be accomplished with many Sisters and Brothers in Christ working together.

Thank you in advance for your help and prayers,
Nancy Kinney

Secretariat Vacancies

Announcing Secretariat Vacancies

Three members of the Secretariat will have completed their terms by the end of September.

We are seeking one 3-year voting position and one one-year voting position.

Exact roles will be determined at the October Secretariat meeting on October 13, 2018. For the 3-year voting position, we would like to have some past rectors apply, however others are also welcome to apply. A Note from the Secretariat Chair of the Hispanic Cursillo

News from the Secretariat

Hello fellow Cursillitas! This year has been going well. We have completed 2 great weekends this year. Can you believe it – 5 Spanish weekends already! And #140 is coming up in October. It is exciting that the Diocese is celebrating a 50 year anniversary (I am so looking forward to seeing Bishop Curry).

We at the Secretariat have been reflecting over the past decades that Cursillo has been in this Diocese. We remain committed to the mission of making saints (people who know God and God’s love and grace) and apostles (saints who have a mission to share the same knowledge with others).

We understand our roots and traditions. We are also looking to the future and looking at ways we may have to adapt to stay relevant and viable. I love being part of this vibrant community and would love to seen it continue to expand.

My In-box is never full, I would love to hear from you – channied57@gmail.com

Decolores, Chandra Williams
